If I could send to you a gift
I wonder just what it should be
As it would have to be something
So that you knew it was from me
If I could fly off into space
I would return to you the stars
From way beyond the planets
Of both Jupiter and Mars
If I could swim just like the fish
Way down deep to the ocean bed
I would bring you back lost treasure
And place a crown upon your head
But sadly I’m no angel
And have no wings with which to fly
Nor can I swim that deeply
As without gills I’d surely die
So may I offer you this poem
Sharing things I’d love to send
As a sign of what you mean to me
For you’re my very special friend
