Asylum

This is not as I remember,

Not how things used to be,

We’re a crumpled piece of paper,

Smoothed out trying to be perfect,

And for what?

No-one cares anymore,

Nothing matters,

All the times I forgave you,

Ripped out my heart to show you,

But it’s all gone.

You keep your feelings locked away,

Any hurt you hide festering,

The guilt never showing,

Behind the walls of your own Asylum,

For the deranged,

The morbidly twisted,

You left me on the outside,

Free to walk away from it all,

And now I am gone.
