Denial 

She pushed him away. Cutting him off before he was able to use his seductive charm that had seen them at this point so many times before.

“We can’t!” she said bowing her head so as not to crumble under the gaze of his beautiful eyes.

“I know we should not, but if I were to have a penny for every girl I’d willingly sacrifice everything, then I’d have but a penny and you’d still be the girl.”

His words spoke not only to her heart but resonated deep with her soul. Why was he able to say exactly the right words? Words that would not just knock down the walls she’d built to defend herself, but batter them down to rubble. This time had to be different, she had to be stronger.

“Then not only would you be a fool, but you’d be a poor one too.”
