Writing Challenge

This challenge was set by a fellow blogger on First50‘s blog. To write a piece using the prompt “missing fountain pen”. This way my piece:

A beautiful inkwell sat to the side of a large square leather inlay, upon a rather ordinary inconspicuous writing desk. It was silver, ornately decorated, far removed from its utilitarian home.

To the side, running along the top of the inlay, a stunning silver decorated removable trough finished the peculiar looking piece of furniture.

“I’ll give you a ton for it” said the dealer.

“A measly ton? I was expecting at least another zero on that figure.”

The dealer smiled wryly. “If you had the missing fountain pen you could have added two, but you don’t, so it’ll be a ton.”
