Devil’s Tears

They came from miles around

Some over land

Others carried upon the sea

All in search of the promised land

A chance for a new life

In a world wild and yet untamed

Towns were built upon open plains

Tall frames made

That made the earth cry black

This is what they’d travelled for

A treasure deep

That the natives called The Devil’s Tears
