Liquid silver escapes my normally steely eyes,
As words cut deeper than any knife.
Emotional scars lay buried beneath the surface,
Of hardened skin made that way by verbal lashings.
Down trodden and belittled on a daily basis,
I question constantly the value of my own self worth.
Justifications rolls from your barbed tongue,
Almost as easily as you throw around those three little words.
I knew love was supposed to hurt sometimes,
But it’s now nothing more than a meaningless emotion.
